Beside the “Living History” the bigger part of our club devotes to preserve the ruin “Burgruine Puchberg”. The ruin is situated on a small hill near the local church in the village of Puchberg am Schneeberg. Since the 1st of January 2001 our club is the leaseholder of the ruin till 2043.

Our effort to preserve and make the ruin useful will last a couple of years in case that these work ha to be done with extreme carefulness. The ruin was photogrammetrically measured to obtain a progressive documentation from the building material which will be the base for following securing and preserve work. To imagine how the ruin has looked at the beginning it is necessary to investigate the existing parts and to make an exactly documentation. One of our most important maxims is to preserve the existing parts of the brickwork in order to keep it alive for a long time with a minimum of preservation. The preservation is not for the end of time but only a continuous service and maintenance is important to guarantee a good result of the project. During our work we again and again found wooden material which was dendrochronological examined (what means a tree-ring dating) on the University of Vienna and gave an explanation about each stage of the castle.
